These tools change the pages you already have without retyping anything. They work on the PDF's own structure where they can, so text stays selectable and sharp: rotating, deleting pages, cropping and adding page numbers or watermarks never re-render the page as an image.
Compression and grayscale are the exceptions by design. To shrink scans and photo-heavy files, the stronger compression levels re-encode images, and grayscale converts colour to shades of grey for cheaper printing. Both show the size before and after, and Docmint never hands back a file larger than the one you gave it.
