Docmint for AI apps · MCP serverUse Docmint inside Claude, Cursor and other AI apps
Give your AI assistant Docmint's PDF and image tools. Ask in plain words and it compresses, merges, converts or protects files on your computer. Nothing is uploaded, and it uses the same plan as the website.
Works in your AI app
Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and any MCP client.
Files stay local
Processing happens on your machine, like on the website.
Uses your plan
10 runs a day free, unlimited on Pro, shared with the website.
1Add Docmint to your app
Run in your terminal:
claude mcp add docmint -- npx -y docmint-mcpNeeds Node.js 20 or newer on your computer. Then connect your account (step 2) to use your plan's runs.
Sign in to create a ready-to-paste setup with your key built in.
2Connect your Docmint account
Without an account the app gets 3 runs a day. Connect it to use your plan: ask your assistant "connect my Docmint account", or run this once in a terminal. Either way you approve it in the browser while signed in.

3Ask for what you need
- Compress ~/Downloads/contract.pdf to under 2 MB and protect it with a password
- Merge every PDF in ~/Desktop/receipts into one file, oldest first
- Make the scanned PDFs in this folder searchable
- Extract the text from report.pdf as Markdown
- Turn these photos into one PDF and add page numbers
Questions
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. The Docmint MCP server runs on your computer and reads and writes files there. It only contacts the Docmint API to count runs against your plan; file contents never leave your machine.
- How do runs count?
- Exactly like the website, and from the same daily allowance: 3 runs a day without an account, 10 with a free account, unlimited on Pro. A run is one file through one tool.
- Which tools are available?
- The same tools as the website that work without pointing at the page: compress, merge, split, rotate, delete pages, organize, watermark, page numbers, protect, unlock, PDF to images, images to PDF, grayscale, flatten, N-up, resize, OCR, extract text, compare, inspect and the image tools.
- How do I disconnect an app?
- Remove it under AI apps on your account page. The app falls back to the anonymous allowance until you connect it again.
- What do I need installed?
- Node.js 20 or newer. The npx command downloads and runs the Docmint server the first time.
